In his CIP update Mr. Atwood advised the contractors working on the Coopers Alley boater’s facility have driven 20 of 47 piles, some going down as far as 75 feet. The new estimated completion date is March 2027. The haul out and office construction project will go to council on June 23rd. Mr. Atwood and staff have already begun speaking with Council members to educate them on the project. The newest CIP is the dredging of the Peoples Street T-head with Type A funds remaining from the A, B, C, D, and L pier project. The RFQ went out and closed on June 1st, the selection process may take up to two months. This project will include dredging of the marina “gap” entrance.

Mr. Atwood advised the A, B, C, D, & L pier project to be completed the next day on May 5. All docks are open and the dredging is complete. IT will install cameras and locks on May 5, and the contractors are cleaning up their laydown yard with plans to vacate by the end of the week. Demolition of the Coopers Alley Boaters facility is complete, and temporary restrooms have been provided by the contractor. Next week they’re installing a test pile, and the estimated completion date is within 9 months. The haul out and office construction project will go to council in June.

Mr. Atwood advised contractors have a small punch list of items to finish on C and D piers, along with paving the parking lot. Demolition of the Coopers Alley Boaters facility will take place in a week or two, once AEP disconnects power. The haul out and office construction project did not go to council in April and will need to be rescheduled. Mr. Atwood would like the project to begin in early September to avoid having two ongoing construction projects on Coopers Alley during the high season. The Peoples Street Boardwalk opened on March 27th.

Mr. Atwood advised L, A, and B piers opened for full capacity on February 20th. Piers C and D should be completed by mid-March and open by the beginning of April. Procurement and Engineering departments are getting preconstruction details in place for the Coopers Alley Boaters facility project. The main water line on the L-head is complete. The haul out and office construction low bid came in over the amount of funding available, so Mr. Atwood is looking to take leftover funding from other projects to cover that difference. The contract should go to council for approval in late April or early May. SR Trident has installed most of the decking for the Peoples St boardwalk and has a projected completion date of March 27th. The marina office will follow up with past inquiries about tour boats.

Mr. Atwood advised he is in contact with the fire marshal, who has asked for a final round of hydrostatic tests to be performed on the new docks. The Coopers Alley boater’s facility construction contract was approved by city council and now contracts and procurement and engineering departments are getting everything set up for the project to begin. The haul out and office construction bids close on 2/15, and it could take 30-60 days to go to city council for approval. SR Trident has installed the intermediate piles for the Peoples St boardwalk and should install concrete before moving on to decking.
