Track parks field maintenance equipment and security funding requests
Applies if: Your firm sells field maintenance equipment or park security services
Why now: On 2026-08-12 Mr. Dodd presented requests for machinery for athletic field maintenance (phase III) and security for Washington Coles Park, alongside two Building Maintenance Tech positions, as part of the FY27 budget.
What to do: Ask Parks and Recreation for the scope of the phase III athletic field maintenance machinery and the Washington Coles Park security request. Both are funding requests that could become purchasing or service opportunities, and the record gives no budget amounts or timing yet.
Act before: After the next material record update
Ask which bond projects the parks committee recommended
Why now: The committee logged no action on 2026-04-08, 2026-05-13, 2026-06-10 and 2026-07-09, then voted unanimously on 2026-08-12 only to support new fees and fee increases, with no bond project list recorded across 7 appearances.
What to do: Request the committee's written Bond 2026 project recommendations and ask whether they were ever voted on. Without them, the public cannot tell what the committee backed beyond the fee changes.
Act before: After the requested records are produced
Compare proposed parks fees, including After Hour Kid Power rates
Applies if: You use city athletic fields or enroll a child in After Hour Kid Power
Why now: On 2026-08-12 the committee voted unanimously to support a higher After Hour Kid Power Daily Drop-In rate for the school year, new artificial turf field rental fees, and higher natural grass field rental fees.
What to do: Pull the proposed Parks and Recreation fee schedule and compare the current and proposed Daily Drop-In rate for After Hour Kid Power. Also check the new artificial turf field rental fees if your league or team uses those fields, since these costs can be passed on to participants.
Act before: After the next material record update
Timeline
Mr. Dodd explained the proposed budget for FY27. The Parks & Recreation Fee Schedule includes proposed amendments to the following sections: Chapter 36, Sec 36-7 Rental Rates & Recreation Fees • Section 1-C – Athletic Facility Rentals (Field Use & Non-Field Use Agreements) • Section 4 – Latchkey (After Hour Kid Power) For Non-Field Use Agreements, notable changes to the fee schedule include new rental fees, specifically for artificial turf fields, to be used with or without lights. For Field Use Agreements, Parks & Recreation propose an increase in rental fees for natural grass fields to be used with or without lights. For After Hour Kid Power, Parks & Recreation propose to increase the Daily Drop-In rate for the school year. Parks & Recreation are also requesting funding for the addition of two Building Maintenance Techs and machinery for athletic field maintenance (phase III); security for Washington Coles Park. Vice-Chair Cronnon made a motion to support the proposed new fees and fee increases for the sections mentioned above and it was seconded by Jay Gardner. The motion passed unanimously.
