Texas Government Code

The Texas Government Code is one of the topically organized codes of the Texas Statutes, enacted by the Texas Legislature as part of the state's continuing statutory revision program. It contains provisions governing state and local government operations, including public information and open meetings requirements, ethics, public finance and contracting, and the organization of state agencies and courts. Texas municipalities such as Fort Worth cite chapters of the Government Code in ordinances, budget and tax actions, and other council proceedings as the legal authority for those actions.
