Library partners with Fire to bring lifesaving skills to residents

The Fort Worth Public Library and Fire Department are teaming up to offer adult residents free hands-on CPR and AED training at 12 libraries in February.

During the training, professional Fire Department EMTs and paramedics will introduce participants to hands-only CPR and explain the basics of using Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs). The sessions are free and open to the public on a first-come, first-served basis. No registration is necessary.

“The skills we will teach you could be the difference between life and death for your loved ones, coworkers and friends," said Craig Trojacek, Fort Worth Fire Department public information officer. “Please come on out and join us to learn these lifesaving strategies so you are prepared when the need arises.”

Training will be offered at the following libraries:

Southwest Regional Library - 3 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 1

East Berry Library - 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 5

Ella Mae Shamblee Library - 3:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 7

Riverside Library - 6 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 12

La Gran Biblioteca - Noon Saturday, Feb. 14

Wedgwood Library – 3:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 14

East Regional Library – 1 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 15

Ridglea Library – 6 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 17

Vivian J. Lincoln Library – 6 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 19

Golden Triangle Library – 1 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 22

Northwest Library – 6 p.m. Monday, Feb. 23

Northside Library – 6 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 24

These sessions provide CPR training but are not certification courses. Spanish interpretation will be available at East Berry, La Gran Biblioteca, Northside and Ridglea Libraries.
