On Jan. 5, more than 10 Golden Lasso Program establishments gathered at Bodega West 7th for a hands-on Stop the Bleed training — reinforcing their commitment to safety, preparedness and responsible hospitality.

With nearly 25 to 30 participants in attendance, bars and restaurants certified through the Golden Lasso Program — recognized as Certified Safety-Branded Entertainment Establishments — engaged in practical, life-saving instruction designed for real-world emergencies.

The training was facilitated by UNT Health’s Texas Center for Patient Safety and the Level I Trauma Center at John Peter Smith (JPS) Health Network, whose experts guided attendees through three critical bleeding-control techniques:

Participants also received critical education on Narcan (naloxone), including when and how to administer it in the event of a suspected opioid overdose. This expanded training ensures establishments are equipped to respond to multiple types of medical emergencies while awaiting EMS arrival.
