LowLow significance — routine or procedural itemFWACC frames the spring intake surge as an annual, nationwide shelter pattern. The event's emphasis on recruiting fosters and collecting basic supplies raises a natural question about whether Fort Worth's shelter network has faced capacity or resource shortfalls in prior springs.

Open source →Spring is almost here, and that means puppy and kitten season is right around the corner.
Every year at springtime, shelters across the country see a spike in newborn animals needing care. While Fort Worth Animal Care & Control spays and neuters every animal before release, not all community pets and strays are fixed. Longer days and warmer temperatures naturally trigger breeding cycles in cats and dogs, leading to a sudden increase of puppies and kittens arriving at shelters all at once.
To help us prepare, FWACC is hosting our annual Bow Wow Meow Puppy & Kitten Shower from 11 a.m.–1 p.m. Saturday, March 14.
This educational and family-friendly event helps us gather critical supplies and talk to potential fosters to support our most vulnerable animals. Guests will learn how to care for neonatal kittens and puppies, get tips from our team and catch a behind-the-scenes look at what it takes to support tiny lives during the busiest season of the year.
We’ll also have light refreshments, fun activities and a raffle for guests who bring a donation item such as kitten milk replacer, soft blankets or puppy supplies.
Whether you’re an experienced foster or simply want to make a difference, this is a meaningful way to support lifesaving work in Fort Worth.
