It takes a heck of a lot of time, tenacity and talent to run a city — especially one the size of ours. During Public Service Recognition Week (PSRW), May 3–9, we’re celebrating the people who make it happen.

Held annually since 1985 during the first week of May, PSRW honors those who serve our nation at the federal, state, county, local and tribal levels.

“The City of Fort Worth is lucky to have an exceptional workforce dedicated to delivering essential services to our residents every day,” said City Manager Jay Chapa. “Their work keeps Fort Worth running, and we’re grateful for their service.”

Our 8,000-plus employees love serving residents, and making a positive difference is what makes the work so fulfilling.

“Fort Worth is blessed with best-in-class employees,” said Mayor Mattie Parker. “Their work ethic and commitment to our city are impressive, and their servant hearts undoubtedly strengthen our community.”

From police officers and firefighters on the front lines to the many civil servants working behind the scenes, these individuals help keep our communities humming — protecting our safety, strength and well-being. It’s not flashy or glamourous, but it’s essential — and it happens around the clock. Although it’s not always visible, the impact is everywhere.

This week, and every week, we proudly tip our hats to the people who make the magic happen. So, if you see a City of Fort Worth employee this week, take a moment to say hey and thank them for the hard work they’re doing to build a strong community.
