Where to find cooling, water during summer heat spell

With triple-digit temperatures forecast for Texas this week, resources are available for residents experiencing homelessness.
Now in its third year, the City and partner organizations are operating cooling stations and water distribution sites through Sept. 18. These resources offer safe, air‑conditioned spaces, hydration and basic services.
Cooling stations
Community Crossroads, 1516 Hemphill St.
• Monday, Wednesday and Thursday
• 3–6 p.m.
• Water and snacks served
Union Gospel Mission, 1350 E. Lancaster Ave.
• Monday-Friday
• 10 a.m.–4 p.m.
• Sack lunch provided
• Pets allowed if kenneled (kennels provided)
• Storage space available for belongings
True Worth Place, 1513 E. Presidio St.
• Open daily
• 7 a.m.–3 p.m.
Water stations
Presidio Courtyard, 1456 E. Presidio St. (next to the Travis Men’s Shelter)
• Open daily
• 8 a.m.–5 p.m.
When We Love, 1100 E. Lancaster Ave.
• Monday–Friday
• 9 a.m.–5 p.m.
Mabee Center, 1855 E. Lancaster Ave.
• Open daily
• Bottled water available during meal service and until 8 p.m., while supplies last
On days when temperatures reach 100 degrees or higher, Presbyterian Night Shelter offers early intake for overnight beds beginning at noon.
Residents are encouraged to share cooling and water resource information with neighbors and community members who may need help staying safe this summer.
For heat-related emergencies, call 911.
Beat the Heat Centers
For the fourth consecutive year, Reliant is supporting Beat the Heat centers across Fort Worth to help residents stay cool and manage their electricity use during the summer months.
Four local community centers serve as a place where residents can rest and escape the heat while enjoying water, snacks and activities:
Como Community Center, 4660 Horne St.
Martin Luther King Jr. Community Center, 5565 Truman Dr.
Northside Community Center, 1100 N.W. 18th St.
Worth Heights Community Center, 3551 New York Ave.
