Give your own way on North Texas Giving Day

Local residents are encouraged to support the causes they care about Thursday, Sept. 17, during North Texas Giving Day.

Organized by Communities Foundation of Texas, the annual event connects people with nonprofit organizations serving communities across our region. Participating organizations represent causes spanning education, healthcare, social services, the arts, animal welfare and the environment.

In 2025, more than 94,000 people contributed $74.2 million to 3,500 nonprofits by the end of the event.

That's what friends are for

The City of Fort Worth works with various “friends of” groups that help support various departments and programs, three of which are listed below. These nonprofit organizations serve as fundraising and advocacy partners, helping raise funds, awareness and community support for specific City services and initiatives. Discover volunteer opportunities with the City of Fort Worth

A financial contribution is not the only way to make a difference. Residents can also support local organizations by volunteering their time, skills and experience.

The City of Fort Worth offers year-round volunteer opportunities for individuals and groups interested in serving their community. These opportunities are coordinated through the Volunteer Services Division, which is part of the City’s Community Engagement Office. Volunteer roles are available across 50 programs and include animal welfare, litter removal and beautification, public safety and other areas of service.

Getting involved is easy! Community members can explore available opportunities, learn about City volunteer programs and register to volunteer on the City’s Volunteer Opportunities webpage.
