The City of Fort Worth will celebrate National Walk & Roll to School Day on Wednesday, Oct. 7, with a special event at S.H. Crowley Elementary School.
The annual event encourages students and families to walk, bike or roll to school while promoting safe travel, healthy habits and active transportation. This year's celebration will bring students, families, school staff and City employees together for a fun and active start to the school day.
Students and families will participate in a walking school bus, traveling to campus together as a group while practicing safe walking habits. City staff and volunteers will also welcome students as they arrive at school.
National Walk & Roll to School Day highlights how walking and biking can be more than just a way to get to school. Active trips can help increase physical activity, reduce vehicle congestion around schools, improve air quality and strengthen connections between schools and their surrounding neighborhoods.

The event also supports Fort Worth's Safe Routes to School efforts and Vision Zero Action Plan, which focus on improving safety and accessibility for people walking, biking and traveling throughout the city.
While Oct. 7 is a day of celebration, the goal extends beyond a single morning. Fort Worth encourages families, schools and neighborhoods to continue practicing safe walking and biking habits and working together to create safer routes for students throughout the school year.
