Office of the City Auditor

The Office of the City Auditor is an independent department of the City of Austin, Texas, established under the Austin City Charter, which provides for a city auditor appointed by and reporting to the City Council through its Audit and Finance Committee. The office conducts performance audits of City departments, programs, and contracts, comparing actual operations with expected practices and recommending improvements. It also operates an integrity unit that investigates allegations of fraud, waste, and abuse involving City employees and contractors, and it publishes audit plans and reports for the public.
