Williamson Creek Wastewater Interceptor Project

The Williamson Creek Wastewater Interceptor is an Austin Water capital improvement project to replace and upsize an aging wastewater interceptor along and near Williamson Creek in south Austin. The project involves installing a large-diameter gravity interceptor pipeline, largely by tunneling, between South First Street and South Pleasant Valley Road, along with replacement of smaller local wastewater lines that are rerouted into the new interceptor. Austin Water has stated the work is intended to add conveyance capacity for growth in the Williamson Creek basin, reduce sanitary sewer overflows, and carry flows to the South Austin Regional Wastewater Treatment Plant. Associated elements include a new odor control facility and the conveyance of land and trail easements for Parks and Recreation Department stewardship.
