The City of Fort Worth Public Events Department is alerting small-business owners to a phishing scam involving fraudulent emails inviting them to participate in the Sept. 20 final event at the convention center arena.
The individual is posing as a representative of the City’s convention center team, describing vendor booth spaces, pricing and claiming all permitting has been waived and no inspections are needed.
While there is an opportunity for small-business vendors to participate, there is not an individual conducting outreach via email nor phone. The sponsor document is on the City website https://www.fortworthtexas.gov/departments/public-events/Convention-Center-Events/Arena-Farewell with pricing and contact information.
If you receive a suspicious request, verify that the sender’s email address ends with @fortworthtexas.gov. Do not click any links, open attachments or send payment.
