Weather Alert

A flash flood warning is in effect for Tarrant, Dallas and Denton counties until 10:30 a.m. Thursday. Up to 3 inches of rain have fallen, with 2 more possible, and Fort Worth has taken 16 high-water rescue calls as of 9 a.m.

The storm line will take most of the morning to cross I-35, with one more round tonight into Friday morning. The flood watch continues through 7 a.m. Friday.

The Fort Worth Joint Emergency Operations Center is at a Level 3 activation, monitoring conditions and engaging partners through the day.

The Fort Worth Emergency Management & Communication Department is sharing this life-safety information:

Stay safe during the storms

Never drive or walk through flooded roads. Six inches of moving water can knock you down and a foot can carry a vehicle away.

Sign up for alerts. Text ReadyFW to 77295 and turn on Wireless Emergency Alerts on your phone.

Stay away from creeks, the Trinity River and the Trinity Trails during and after the rain.

Move vehicles out of low-lying areas by Wednesday afternoon and clear leaves from drains near your home.

Keep cellphones charged.

Residents with mobility challenges or those living in flood‑prone areas should take action now. Avoid historically high‑water locations and plan transportation needs early.

Check on neighbors who may need help.
