Federal grants administered through TxDOT will support the Northeast 23rd Street and Decatur Avenue grade separation project, which will elevate streets over multiple railroad tracks. The $98 million project is intended to eliminate seven at-grade crossings and improve mobility and safety.

The City of Fort Worth and NCTCOG launched a pilot program Aug. 1 to reduce excessive speeding, with Fort Worth police increasing nighttime enforcement on Loop 820 and Interstate Highway 30 from 8 p.m. to 4 a.m. The pilot is part of the Regional Transportation Council's $57 million safety program, of which $7 million was allocated to speeding reduction efforts.

The Infrastructure and Growth Committee received briefings from Transportation & Public Works and TxDOT on short- to long-range capital transportation programs, including a completed High-Speed Rail Economic Impact Study with Arlington examining connections to Houston and San Antonio-Laredo, with next steps seeking NCTCOG support through NEPA processes for key rail corridors.
